training information

Training sessions are for paid up members and new runners alike.  To let us know you’re coming, please signup via https://www.teamapp.com/?_detail=v1 and ask to join “Running in the Burbs” To become a member, please follow the links on the Membership page.   If you’re not currently a member, please join our Facebook group where our runs are advertised. Note: Summer season is 1st October to 31st March and Winter season is 1st April to 30th September.

Weekly Training sessions

Our weekly training sessions are:

  • Monday 6:30 p.m. – group run
  • Wednesday 6:30 p.m. – quality session
  • Saturday  – 8:15 a.m. regular 10km or scheduled long run

The Saturday sessions start from Jells Parks in Wheelers Hill and feature a variety of distances and paces.We meet at carpark 5.  We also have regular excursion runs, generally on the first Saturday of the month. Please check the Programmes page for the current training programme – note, members only access.

The Monday and Wednesday sessions are held at the same time and location each week with different venues during Summer and Winter

Monday Group runs 6:30 p.m. start

A group run to begin the week and shake out your legs from your weekend training.

Summer:

Meet at Bunnings Carpark (Burwood Hwy, Vermont South, Melway 62 K9, Google Maps) and get ready to explore every trail, every hill and every single track in the local area.

Winter:

Meet at Vermont South Bunnings (same as Summer)

These sessions are a great way to start your week and build up strength and stamina in a safe, friendly environment during winter.

Wednesday quality sessions 6:30PM START

Summer:

Central Reserve, Glen Waverley (Little Athletics Track, Central Reserve, Springvale Road map)

Winter:

TEMPORARY CHANGE!

Due to works are Monash Uni, Wednesday training will be Waverley Park. Parking and toilets are at Waverley Park Lake on Cavenagh Boulevard with a 500m run to Waverley Park.

A quality run session designed to make you faster and finish strong on race day. These training sessions will include intervals, speed play or hills and will be tailored to suit runners of all abilities by our expert coaches.

SATURDAY “LONG RUN” SESSIONS

7:30 AM FOR 7:45 AM START – SUMMER

8:00 AM FOR 8:15 AM START – winter

All Seasons: Jells Park (gravel carpark near Madeline’s Cafe, enter Jells Park from Jells/Waverley Roads corner, Melway 71 A6, Google Maps)

Meet us every Saturday (rain, hail or shine!) for a long run along the refreshing and sometimes challenging terrain of the Dandenong Creek Parklands. These sessions are designed to improve your endurance and enable you to cover your chosen race distance with confidence.  Groups will be guided by experienced run leaders and cover a range of distances and paces, depending on ability. There will also be the opportunity to stay for a bite to eat or a drink and socialize after each session!
